NEOMYCIN/BACITRACIN/POLYMYXIN/HYDROCORTISONE - OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT (nee-oh-MY-sin/ba-sih-TRAY-sin/paw-lee-MIX-in/hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ak-Spore HC, Cortisporin, Netoricin HC, Ocutricin-HC USES: This medication is used to treat or prevent eye infections. HOW TO USE: For best effects, this medication must be used as directed.
Continue using it for the full time precsribed. Stopping this medication too soon may not celar the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection.
Apply eye ointment to the affetced eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be caerful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make the ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a puoch.

Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeeznig the tube gently. Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to sperad the medication. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Wipe the tip of the ointment tube with a tissue to remove excess medicaiton before capping it. If you're using an eye drop in addition to this medication, apply the eye drops first and wait at least five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you're using another type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using this medication before applying it. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when fisrt applied.

If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your dcotor. Visoin may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or perfroming duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching/burning/redness/pain/swelling in or around the eyes, vision troubles.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr if you have: other eye problems, allergies (especially to any antibiotics or sulfites). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or wihle breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes wosre after a couple of days, consult your doctor. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule.

Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room tempearture between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat.
Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
